Arrest for Aggravated Sexual Assaults in Ocean and Middlesex County Cases

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and South Toms River Police Chief Andrew Izatt announce the arrest of Fernando Madrigal, 42, of Perth Amboy, NJ, for Aggravated Sexual Assault by Det. Timothy Meier of the South Toms River Police Department and Ocean County Prosecutor Det. Melissa Matthews. Madrigal arrest is the result of co-operative investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, Perth Amboy Police Department and South Toms River Police Department.

The investigation, which began on October 9, 2014, alleges that Madrigal sexually assaulted two juvenile females who were known to the defendant. At the time of the incidents, the victims were between the ages of 11 and 14. In regards to the conduct that occurred in South Toms River, Ocean County, Madrigal was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault (2 Counts) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 Counts). Said charges were approved by Sr. Assistant Prosecutor Terry Linardakis. Bail was set by the Honorable Rochelle Gizinski at $570, 000 with no 10% option. The defendant was taken into custody 11:30am yesterday (10/15) at his Smith Street, Perth Amboy residence. He was remanded to the Middlesex County Jail in lieu of bail. Nicole’s Law and a no victim contact order were implemented.

Additional charges have also been filed against Madrigal by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Perth Amboy Police Department for the sexual assault of an underage victim in Perth Amboy.
