Arrest in Endangering and Criminal Sexual Contact Case

On 08/05/2014, Ptl. James Hartmann and Det. Jeff Ehlers of the Long Beach Township Police Department along with Ocean County Prosecutor’s Det. Jason Steele arrested David T. Wirth, 82, of Beach Haven Terrace on charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and Criminal Sexual Contact.

The investigation was initiated when a 15-year-old male child reported to Long Beach TownshipPolice that Wirth touched his genital area three times and took the victim’s hand placing it onto the suspect’s genitals. The victim immediately reported the incident to nearby adults who contacted police.

Wirth was located at his Bay View Terrace residence and taken into custody. Ocean County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Linardakis approved the charges and Judge James M. Blaney J.S.C. set bail at $50,000 with no 10% option. Nicole’s Law was applied mandating no contact with the victim. Wirth is presently lodged in Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.
