ARREST IN AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT

On Monday, March 30, Ocean County Prosecutor Special Victims Unit Detective Stephanie Bayha and Brick Township Police Detective James Burgess arrested SAMUEL HOLDBROOK, 28, of Brick on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The investigation conducted by the partnering detectives alleges that the female victim, who was 12 at the time of the incident, was assaulted sometime between January and February 2014.  Holdbrook is someone with whom the victim is familiar.

He was arrested yesterday at approximately 8:30 pm at Brick Township Police Headquarters after the investigating detectives secured the necessary evidence to support the charge.  Ocean County Superior Court Judge Francis Hodgson was contacted and bail was set at $250,000.00 no 10%.  Nicole’s Law (no contact with the victim) was implemented.  He is lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of bail.

The media and the public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
