ARREST IN LAKEWOOD SEXUAL ASSAULT

On 2/24/16, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit Det. Tom Tiernan and Lakewood PD Det. Chase Messer arrested William H. Jenkins, 65, of Lakewood for Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The investigation initiated on 2/24/16 alleges Jenkins sexually assaulted a fifteen (15) year old female on 02/11/2016. OCPO Special Victims Unit Det. Stephanie Bayha and Sgt. Jason Steele assisted in the investigation by preparing search warrants for the suspect’s vehicle and residence. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI processed the case evidence.

Based on the completed investigation Senior Assistant Prosecutor Christine Lento authorized charges of Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The Honorable Judge Gizinski set bail at $250,000 no 10% and implemented Nicole’s Law (No contact with victim). The defendant was remanded to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.

The media and the public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
