ARREST IN SEXUAL ASSAULT ATTEMPT

Early this morning (11/24), members of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s High Tech Crime Unit and the Toms River Police Department executed an arrest warrant at a Broad Street address in Toms River. Christopher Kaleda, 39, of Toms River was arrested and charged with 1 count of 4th degree Attempted Criminal Sexual Contact, 1 count of 3rd degree Child Endangerment, 1 count of 3rd degree Distribution of Obscene Materials to a minor.

The arrest stems from a referral from the Beachwood Police Department to the OCPO High Tech Crime Unit reporting that Kaleda allegedly was having inappropriate conversations with a 14 year old female, with whom he was familiar. OCPO HTCU detectives conducted an undercover investigation which led to Assistant Prosecutor Kristin Pressman approving the above charges.

Ocean County Superior Court Judge James M. Blaney set bail at $30,000 no 10% and implemented Nicole’s Law prohibiting any contact with the victim. The media and public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
