CONTRACTOR WITH HISTORY OF MULTIPLE THEFTS ARRESTED

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato today announced the arrest of Richard Woodard, 63, part owner Willwood Builders of Clearwater, Florida. Woodard was located and arrested on Friar Tuck Lane in Dunedin, Florida last Wednesday (9/21/16) at approximately 2 pm by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department at the request of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Economic Crimes Unit

Richard Woodard and his company are alleged to have taken in excess of $75,000 from a total of seven (7) known victims. The thefts came in the form of clients’ savings, insurance money and state Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) grants that were paid without Willwood Builders ever finishing the contracted work.

OCPO’s Economic Crimes Unit charged Woodard with Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition on behalf of the seven known victims. Bail was set at $150,000, no 10% option. Proceedings have begun to extradite Woodard to Ocean County to answer the charges. Anthony Sodano III, of West Orange was previously identified as the attorney representing Woodard.

Anyone who may have experienced issues with Richard Woodard’s Willwood Builders Construction Company can contact OCPO Economic Crimes Unit Detective Lindsay Llauget at 732-929-2027 Ext. 3462.

The media and public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
