Fatal Crash on Rt 539 in Lacey

Lacey Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a fatal crash that took place this morning on Route 539 at M.P.16 in Lacey. 

Just before 6 am, Kenneth Busardo, 27, of Barnegat was driving a Cadillac DeVille north bound on Route 539 when, for some unknown reason, he drifted into the south bound lane of 539 and struck head-on a Chevy Cavalier driven by Suzanne Kessler, 54, of Whiting.

Suzanne Kessler was pronounced dead at the scene. Kenneth Busardo received minor injuries in the crash and refused treatment. Busardo was transported to Southern Ocean County Hospital by investigating Officers to have blood drawn for analysis. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is pending the blood lab results.  The accident scene was processed by Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI.
