JACKSON SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

CCP2SgPUEAIcJD_Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew D. Kunz announce an active investigation into the fatal shooting of a 34 y/o Jackson Township man. The joint investigation by the OCPO Major Crimes Unit and Jackson Township Police has identified, located and is presently questioning persons of interest. Additional information will be released as the investigation develops.

Jackson Township Police initially responded to Casanova Restorante located at 10 South New Prospect Road, Jackson, just after 11 pm on a report of an injured employee. It should be noted the restaurant has been an inactive business for some time. Upon their arrival, the responding officers found the man’s body within the establishment. The male victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The responding officers immediately secured the scene and called for the OCPO Major Crimes Unit, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI and the Ocean County Medical Examiner to respond. The subsequent investigation, as stated, has identified individuals present at the time of the shooting. The investigating agencies are in the process of piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death.

The citizens of Jackson are assured that this event does not pose any danger to their safety.
