OCEAN COUNTY MAN CAUGHT IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CYBER DRAG NET

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato today announced the arrest of Carlos Diaz Rojas, 54, of Point Pleasant Beach on the charge of 3rd Degree Possession of Child Pornography. The arrest comes on the heels of “Operation Statewide” which accounted for the arrest of 40 subjects across New Jersey alleged to be Possessing Child Pornography. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s High Tech Crime Unit (HTCU), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department continue the success of that operation by conducting a continuous proactive “Cyber Child Pornography Drag Net”.

The arrest is the result of a search warrant executed by the partnering agencies this morning at 501 Philadelphia Ave in Point Pleasant Beach. The search resulted in the seizure of computers and hard drives located in the residence. Detectives located hundreds of videos/images of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts. As a result of the evidence located, Assistant Prosecutor Kristin Pressman approved the Possession of Child Pornography charge. Judge Wendel Daniel’s, J.S.C. set bail at $100,000 cash only. Rojas will also be the subject of an Immigration Detainer as he is illegally residing in the US.

The media and the public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that these defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
