Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Continues Fight to Prevent Gang Recruitment

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato today announced the continued growth of the G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) Program within the Office of the Ocean County Prosecutor and partnering county law enforcement departments.  G.R.E.A.T. is a school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum designed to prevent delinquency, violence and gang membership.  Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Anthony V. Pierro and Sergeant Anthony Carrington brought the program to Ocean County schools in 2011.

On June 17, 2014, the Lakewood Police Department, New Jersey Parole Officers, and Detective Sandra Rodriguez of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office graduated nearly 400 students that make up the entire seventh grade class of Lakewood Middle School.

If you are interested in bringing the G.R.E.A.T. program to your school contact Assistant Prosecutor Jamie L. Schron at for more information.
