PROSECUTOR’S SPECIAL OPERATIONS GROUP AND THE BERKELEY TOWNSHIP POLICE TEAM UP IN LATEST DRUG INVESTIGATION
Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato announced today the culmination of an investigation into drug activity in the Ocean County area.
Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Northern Enforcement Unit conducted a cooperative multi agency drug investigation with the Berkeley Township Police Department that resulted in the arrest of three Ocean County residents on various drug charges. During the course of the investigation, Detectives obtained a no knock search warrant for a residence located at 68 Sylvan Lake Boulevard, Berkeley Township NJ.
During the early evening hours of Tuesday October 26, 2015, the partnering agencies executed the no knock search warrant at the Sylvan Lake Blvd residence. John Irizarry, 35, of 68 Sylvan Lake Boulevard began fighting with Detectives as they entered the residence. He was subsequently subdued and placed under arrest. As a result of the search warrant, police seized approximately 1280 bags of heroin, prescription narcotics and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The following individuals were arrested and charged as a result of this investigation:
John Irizarry, 35, of 68 Sylvan Lakes Boulevard, Berkeley Township NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels JSC, PJ.Cr.P set bail at $200,000 cash only. Irizarry was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.
Marissa Pyle, 29, of 68 Sylvan Lakes Boulevard, Berkeley Township NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels JSC, PJ.Cr.P set bail at $150,000 cash only.
Detectives also charged Ms. Pyle with one count of Distribution of Heroin. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels JSC, PJ.Cr.P set bail at $50,000 no ten percent for the Distribution of Heroin charge. Ms. Pyle was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.
Jacqueline Armenia, 54, of 68 Sylvan Lakes Boulevard, Berkeley Township NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels JSC, PJ.Cr.P set bail at $100,000 no ten percent. Ms. Armenia was subsequently lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
Assisting in the investigation were members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, the Berkeley Township Police Department Patrol Division and the Berkeley Township Police Department Detective Bureau.
The media and public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that these defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
