PROSECUTOR’S SPECIAL OPERATIONS GROUP CONTINUES PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL POLICE TO TARGET DEALERS

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato, Lacey Township Police Chief Michael DiBella, Barnegat Township Police Captain Richard Dugan and Ocean Township O.I.C. Lieutenant George Thompson announced today the culmination of a multi-agency cooperative investigation into drug activity in the southern Ocean County area.

Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Southern Enforcement Unit conducted a cooperative multi agency investigation with the Barnegat Township Police Department, the Lacey Township Police Department and the Ocean Township Police Department that resulted in the arrest of four Atlantic County residents on various drug charges.

Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Southern Enforcement Unit along with members of the Barnegat Police Narcotics Unit, the Lacey Township Detective Bureau and the Ocean Township Police Department conducted a short term investigation into drug activity impacting the southern Ocean County area. During the course of the investigation Detectives identified a gold 2000 Nissan Altima as being utilized by individuals to store and distribute quantities of both heroin and cocaine in the southern Ocean County area.

On August 9, 2016 at approximately 6:30 PM Detectives located the gold 2000 Nissan Altima in the area of the Wawa food store located on West Bay Avenue in Barnegat. The detectives maintained surveillance on the gold Nissan resulting in the Detectives conducting a motor vehicle stop and approaching the subject vehicle in the parking lot of the Wawa food store. Upon approaching the vehicle police located four Atlantic County residents within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation and search of the vehicle yielded quantities of heroin and cocaine. The investigating Detectives located approximately 300 individual dosage units of heroin and approximately 10 grams of cocaine. All four suspects were arrested and transported to the Barnegat Township Police Department for processing. The Nissan Altima was also seized pending forfeiture proceedings.

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

Tariq Johnson, age 25, 28 South Georgia Avenue Apt. 54, Atlantic City NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Ocean County Superior Court Judge Steven Nemeth JSC set bail at $60,000, no ten percent on Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Lionel Dabney, age 29, 16 West Mulberry Street, Pleasantville NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Ocean County Superior Court Judge Steven Nemeth JSC set bail at $60,000, no ten percent on Mr. Dabney. Mr. Dabney was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Robert Gunter, age 33, 6212 Delilah Road, Egg Harbor Township NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Ocean County Superior Court Judge Steven Nemeth JSC set bail at $60,000, no ten percent on Mr. Gunter. Mr. Gunter was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Rachel Brolewicz, age 22, 6512 Reega Avenue, Egg Harbor Township NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Ocean County Superior Court Judge Steven Nemeth JSC set bail at $35,000, no ten percent on Mr. Brolewicz. Mr. Brolewicz was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.
