SENTENCING IN BRICK ROBBERY
Samuel Patriaco, Jr., 24, of Brick appeared on Friday (8/7) before Judge Linda G. Baxter, J.S.C. to be sentenced in the knifepoint robbery and stabbing at K and D Gulf on Burnt Tavern Road in Brick. Patriaco was sentenced for the charge of First Degree Robbery to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to a No Early Release mandate (Must serve 85% of the imposed sentence).
The sentencing stems from the June 19, 2015 guilty plea by Patriaco to the September 1, 2014 robbery. On that date, Patriaco approached Charanjee Singh, an attendant working at KD Automotive located on Burnt Tavern Road in Brick, while he was counting money at the gas pumps and grabbed the money out of his hand. When Singh attempted to retrieve the money, Patriaco stabbed the victim with a knife and fled. The victim was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center with serious injuries to his left upper abdomen/chest, where he recovered after undergoing surgery.
The investigation into the robbery was conducted by members of the Brick Police Department Detective Bureau. Ocean County Assistant Prosecutor Kelly J. Biringer prosecuted the case.
