Sex Assault Defendant Sentenced

Defendant Efrain Palacios-Torres, 24, was sentenced on 8/1/14 by Judge Daniels on a charge of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, No Early Release Act applies, Megan’s Law Registered Sex Offender, Parole Supervision for Life and Nicole’s law (No Contact with victim). Defendant also has an ICE Detainer.

Victim was an juvenile (13 years old) known to the defendant. In January 2013 defendant provided a juvenile in Lakewood with a drink. The juvenile later awoke to discover defendant had sexually assaulted her.

Defendant entered a guilty plea on January 16, 2014. Ocean County Prosecutor Detective Melissa Matthews investigated the matter. Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Ann Linardakis prosecuted the case.
