Special Operations Group Continues Pursuit of Illegal Narcotics

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato announced today the culmination of three separate investigations into drug activity in the Ocean County area.

In the first operation, Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Northern Enforcement Unit conducted a one month long investigation that resulted in the arrest of three Ocean County residents on various drug charges. During the course of the investigation, Detectives obtained search warrants for two locations in Berkeley allegedly being utilized by Darius Banks, 24, to store and distribute CDS.

During the early afternoon hours of August 20, 2014, Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Northern Enforcement Unit, along with members of the Berkeley Township Police Department Patrol Division and Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Sheriffs Department K-9 Unit and the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team executed the search warrants at 532 Jamaica Boulevard and 57 2nd Street in Berkeley.

As a result, the partnering agencies seized approximately 20 grams of cocaine, one pound of marijuana, including approximately 1000 unused wax folds used to re-package CDS, sifters, grinders and scales commonly utilized in the packaging and distribution of CDS.

Darius Banks, age 24, 601 Santa Anita Road, Toms River was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute and Distribution of cocaine over one half ounce. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail at $100,000 cash only. Banks was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Arrested along with Banks were:

Alicia Nann, 25, of 532 Jamaica Boulevard, Berkeley Township was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Possess Cocaine over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail at $15,000, with a ten percent option for Nann who was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Nelson Davila, 36, of 57 2nd Avenue, Berkeley Township was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Davila was released on his own recognizance.

The second investigation concluded on September 9, 2014, when detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Southern Enforcement Unit conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of a two Atlantic County men on various drug charges. During the course of the investigation Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Southern Enforcement Unit identified a blue Chrysler Sebring as allegedly being utilized by Tackeem K. Molley, 19, of Vineland NJ and John D. Rogers, 19, of Egg Harbor Township to store and distribute heroin in Southern Ocean County.

At approximately 1:45 pm on September 9, 2014, Prosecutor’s Detectives from the Southern Enforcement Unit located the Chrysler Sebring, which was occupied by both Molley and Rogers in the area of the Wendy’s Restaurant on Route 72 in Manahawkin. SOG Detectives, with assistance from the Stafford Township Police Department, conducted a motor vehicle stop on the Sebring. As a result of a subsequent search of the Chrysler Sebring, police located approximately 160 individual dosage units of heroin. Both Molley and Rogers were arrested and transported to the Stafford Township Police Department.

Tackeem K. Molley, 19, of 752 Southeast Avenue, Vineland NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin under one half ounce with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Municipal Court Judge Damian Murray, JMC, set bail at $100,000 cash only. Molley was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

John D. Rogers, 19, of 23 Marsh Road, Egg Harbor Township NJ was charged with Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Heroin under one half ounce. Mr. Rogers was released on his own recognizance.

In the third operation, Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Northern Enforcement Unit conducted a two month investigation that resulted in the arrest of three Ocean County residents on various drug charges. During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence located in Manchester Township, specifically 3309 Ridgeway Road, Manchester Township NJ. The residence was identified by detectives as allegedly being utilized by Tyrone Williams, 28, and Jamal Cooper, 34, to store and distribute CDS.

During the early morning hours of September 11, 2014, Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Northern Enforcement Unit, along with members of the Manchester Township Police Department Patrol Division and Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit and the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team executed the search warrant. As a result, police seized quantities of heroin and marijuana along with approximately 2 ounces of cocaine. Police also seized approximately $4500 in cash and a stun gun. A 2003 Acura that was identified as allegedly being utilized to facilitate this drug distribution operation was also seized pending forfeiture proceedings.

Tyrone Williams, 28, of 3309 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin under one half ounce with Intent to Distribute and Distribution of Heroin under one half ounce. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail at $50,000 no ten percent for the above listed charges. Williams was additionally charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin under one half ounce with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail at $100,000 cash only for the above listed additional charges. Williams was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Jamal Cooper, 34, of 3309 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin under one half ounce with Intent to Distribute and Distribution of Heroin under one half ounce. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail at $50,000 no ten percent for the above listed charges. Cooper was additionally charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin under one half ounce with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail at $100,000 cash only for the above listed additional charges. Mr. Cooper was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Samarra Jelks, age 32 of 3309 Ridgeway Road, Manchester NJ was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin under one half ounce with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine over one half ounce with Intent to Distribute. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail at $20,000 with a ten percent option. Ms. Jelks was released on her own recognizance.
