Stafford Man Pleas Guilty in Child Pornography Case

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato today announced the guilty plea by Alexi Y. Montoya Redondo, 40, of Stafford, NJ, to 5 counts of 4th degree Possession of Child Pornography. The sentencing has been tentatively set for October.

The guilty plea stemmed from the investigation begun in April 2013 and the subsequent arrest on May 9, 2013 of Redondo for the Possession of Child Pornography. The arrest was the result of a cooperative investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security / Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (DHS/ICE) into Mr. Redondo sharing and possessing child pornography movie files. The investigation began as the result a pro-active search by the Ocean County High Tech Crime Unit for individuals possessing or sharing child pornography. The High Tech Crime Unit contacted DHS/ICE who was a partnering agency in the investigation, and at 6 a.m. on May 9, 2013 executed a search warrant at 784B Jane Drive  in Manahawkin. Stafford Township Police Department assisted with the service of the search warrant to assure the safety of the entry team and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department provided a translator. The search for evidence at that time pertaining to Distribution of Child Pornography on the internet resulted in the recovery of 40 movie files, Redondo’s computer, and multiple electronic storage devices.

Redondo has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail since his May 2013 arrest due to an immigration detainer placed on him by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As part of the plea agreement Redondo will be turned over to Immigration and Customs upon fulfilling his court imposed sentence for deportation proceedings, as he is in the United States illegally.
