SENTENCING IN WARETOWN AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT

On Friday (June 17, 2016), Defendant Frederic B. Whitehead, 45, of Waretown, NJ, was sentenced by Judge Rochelle Gizinski J.S.C., to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison (No Early Release Applies) on one count of 1st degree Aggravated Sexual Assault concurrent to 8 years (No Early Release) on one count of 2nd degree Sexual Assault, with Megan’s Law Registration, Parole Supervision for Life and Nicole’s Law (No contact with victim).

The sentence stems from Whitehead’s February 1, 2016 guilty plea before Judge Rochelle Gizinski. The State requested 13 years in New Jersey State Prison (No Early Release Applies) concurrent to 8 years (No Early Release). The Defense requested 10 years concurrent to 5 years in NJ State Prison.

The offenses occurred between May 2006 and August of 2012 in Ocean Township (Waretown). Victim was between the ages of 6 and 12 when the conduct occurred. Case was investigated by Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Det. Lindsay Woodfield and Waretown PD Det. Sgt. William Sneddon. Their investigation found that the defendant sexually abused the victim over a six year period.

His arrest took place 7/1/13, when Det. Woodfield and Det. Sgt. Sneddon arrested Whitehead on the above charges without incident. Whitehead has been incarcerated since his arrest. Debra Giordano from OCPO Victim Witness Unit assisted throughout the case. OCPO Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Ann Linardakis handled the prosecution for the State.
