Arrest Made During Stabbing Investigation

On Saturday August 22, 2015 at 7:15 pm, Jackson Police Officers responded to a parking lot located at 571 Monmouth Road (CR 537), on the report of several people fighting and a stabbing.

Responding officers located a 35 year old female who had a wound to her arm and a teenaged male who had multiple stab wounds to his torso and back.  The scene was secured and the victims were treated by the officers, responding first aid personnel and medics.  Both victims were flown by medevac to an area hospital for treatment.

As the investigation progressed, the suspected weapon used in the incident was located discarded in a wooded area a short distance away from the scene.  A 29 year old male resident of Delaware was placed under arrest for the incident.  He was charged with second degree aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.  Bail was set at $100,000.00 and he was later lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

The parties involved in this incident were known to each other and names are not being released at this time to protect the victims.

Police Officers Darin McClain, Lou Notare, Michael Kelly, Ryan Donnelly, Stephen Cilento, Shane Davis and Sgt. Wayne Olejarz responded to the scene.  Detectives Mitch Cowit, Scott Conover, Robert Reiff, John Rodriguez and Dsg. Denis Campbell also responded to investigate.  The Ocean County Sheriff’s K-9 and CIU also responded.  Fire Department personnel from Jackson also assisted in preparing the landing zone and in securing the scene for investigation.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.  The media and the public are reminded that any persons arrested or charged with any offenses or crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
